Joost van Asseldonk
Legal Designer
Joost studied law and information law at the University of Amsterdam. He combines legal knowledge with a background in art — from an internship at Sotheby's to painting. At Patroon he works on visual translations of complex legal topics.
Joost moves between art and law. He studied law at the University of Amsterdam and specialized in information law — privacy, intellectual property, the legal side of data and technology.
His interest in art took him to Sotheby’s, where he interned. That combination of legal thinking and visual ability fits legal design: translating complex information into images that work.
At Patroon he works on diverse projects. From visualizations about problematic debt for the Dutch Parliament to visual contracts and litigation documents. Besides his work at Patroon, he paints.
