We turn legal
complexity into
clarity
We're lawyers, designers, and engineers. We build visuals, tools, and documents that make the complex clear.
Legal work is complex. Among lawyers, that's fine — mostly.
But at some point, your work needs to reach someone else. A client, a board, a judge, a colleague with ten minutes before a meeting. That's where things get lost.
Too much to read. Too hard to explain. Too confusing to use.
We work with legal teams to structure information so it lands. Not dumbing down. Just bridging the gap between what you know and whoever needs to act on it.

Dutch Legal Tech · October 2024
Dutch Legal Tech Map
The Dutch legal tech ecosystem is growing rapidly, but an overview was missing. Together with Dutch Legal Tech, we created the first interactive map of all legal tech startups in the Netherlands. A living document that visualizes the dynamics of the sector and makes connections visible.
Moos · March 2025
Yesterday's Contracts Have No Place in Tomorrow's Construction World
Moos is building a sustainable future with modular, circular homes. To reinforce their collaborative philosophy, they needed legal documents that not only mitigate risks but actively build trust between partners. Patroon helped them redesign their contractual ecosystem.
Dutch Government · July 2024
Visualizing the Dutch Debt System
The Netherlands has 730,000 households struggling with problematic debt. Many get trapped in what the Ombudsman calls "an obstacle course without a finish line." For the Interdepartmental Policy Research (IBO), we developed visualizations that capture this complex reality: both the system as a whole and its impact on individuals.
Ministry of Economic Affairs · January 2025
How do you help entrepreneurs navigate the maze of new sustainability regulations?
An increasing number of companies must report on their impact on people and the environment. The Ministry of Economic Affairs therefore asked Patroon to develop a practical guide: the ESRS Navigator. This guides entrepreneurs step by step through the new European reporting obligations.
Municipality of Utrecht · January 2024
From legal document to understandable privacy statement
How do you make privacy statements understandable for more than 360,000 residents? The Municipality of Utrecht asked Patroon to transform their complex privacy statement into an accessible document. We developed an interactive privacy plaza that guides residents step by step through the various processing procedures.
Patroon [pah·trohn] combines the Dutch word for pattern (systematic design) with a traditional Dutch legal term referring to the collaborative relationship between experienced and junior lawyers, reflecting our belief in making law more accessible through partnership.
Learn more about our storyLegal teams drown in complexity. It shows up three ways.
Too much to read
Policy stacks, case files, due diligence rooms. We build tools that surface what matters.
Too hard to explain
Judges have fifteen minutes. Boards want the bottom line. We make your knowledge visible.
Too confusing to use
Contracts nobody reads, processes nobody follows. We redesign them so they work.
You know what matters. We help it land.
