Vlad Ionescu
Legal Engineer
Vlad studied European Law in Maastricht and International Technology Law at VU Amsterdam. At the Maastricht Law & Tech Lab he built an AI tool mapping products to the EU AI Act. After an internship at ESA, he joined Patroon.
Vlad combines legal knowledge with technical skills. His path to legal tech ran through European law, space, and diplomacy.
At the European Space Agency he worked on contracts for the Science and Exploration divisions — from tender invitations to negotiations. Earlier, at the Maastricht Law & Tech Lab, he built a compliance tool using large language models to analyze products against the EU AI Act.
Now he works on Patroon’s AI systems: optimizing RAG pipelines, refining prompt engineering, and building features for legal tools. The combination of legal thinking and coding ability means he understands what needs to happen legally and how to solve it technically.
