A path through law, space, and AI
Vlad studied European Law at Maastricht University, followed by International Technology Law at VU Amsterdam. At the Maastricht Law & Tech Lab, he built an AI tool that maps products against the EU AI Act—using large language models to turn dense regulation into workable analysis.
Before joining Patroon, he worked at the European Space Agency, handling contracts for the Science and Exploration divisions. From tender invitations to final negotiations, he learned how complex agreements come together in high-stakes environments.
What he’s working on
At Patroon, Vlad focuses on our AI infrastructure: optimizing RAG pipelines, refining prompt engineering, and developing new features for tools like Thea and Feitlijn.
What makes him valuable is the combination. He understands what needs to happen legally—and knows how to solve it technically. That’s rare, and it’s exactly what building legal information systems requires.
