Overview

Researchers looking to bring their technology from lab to market need clarity on legal frameworks. Four Dutch technical universities jointly developed a new approach that speeds up deals and gives entrepreneurs more certainty.

The challenge

Four Dutch technical universities share a common ambition: making spin-off processes more efficient. It is crucial that entrepreneurs can see that their deal is not arbitrary, but follows standards that all four technical universities apply.

An important step in this was the development of the UNL deal terms used by the 4TUs. For the elaboration of the deal, it is important that it is clear what the deal means for entrepreneurs.

The solution

We developed a new termsheet template that combines legal precision with visual clarity. The document explains why clauses exist and places agreements in the context of market standards.
